How to fix the equation editor when it’s grayed out, not available, or equations don’t display.

Solution rapide

The equation editor requires .docx format (not .doc Compatibility Mode). Convert via File > Info > Convert. If still unavailable, try Insert > Equation. For the legacy editor, use Insert > Object > Microsoft Equation 3.0.
