Fix: Citations Formatted Incorrectly in Word

Go to References tab and check the Style dropdown — make sure it matches your required format (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.). If a specific citation is wrong, right-click it > Edit Source to correct the fields.

Problem: Wrong Citation Style
- Go to the References tab
- Find the Style dropdown

- All citations and the bibliography update automatically
Problem: Citation Missing Information
- Right-click the citation in your text
- Select Edit Source
- Fill in all required fields for your citation style
- Click OK — the citation updates throughout the document
Problem: Author Name Format Wrong
For APA (Last, F.):
- Edit the source
- In the Author field, use the format: Last, First Middle
- For multiple authors, use semicolons: Smith, John; Jones, Jane
- For organizations, check Corporate Author
Problem: In-Text Citation Shows Full Reference
- Right-click the citation
- Select Edit Citation
- Check the Suppress options for Author, Year, or Title as needed
- For page numbers, add them in the Pages field
Problem: Citations in Wrong Order
In-text citations with multiple sources should be alphabetical (APA) or chronological (some styles):
- Right-click the citation
- Look for options to edit the grouped citation
- Or delete and re-insert in the correct order
