Fix: Indentation Not Working Properly in Word

4. The Paragraph Dialogfeld opens
5. In Indentation section:
   • Before text: Enter 0.5" to indent from left margin
   • First line: Leave at 0 (or enter negative value for hanging indent)
   • After text: Leave at 0 unless you want right-side indent
6. Klicken Sie auf OK
7. Paragraph(s) now properly indented

Schritt-für-Schritt-Lösung

Step 1: Clear Tab Stops and Direct Formatting

Tab stops interfere with indentation.

1. Show formatting marks: **Ctrl + ***
2. Look for Registerkarte symbols (→) in your text
3. If you see Registerkartes before text, they’re blocking indentation
4. Wählen Sie paragraphs with indentation Problems
5. Gehen Sie zu Home > Paragraph Dialogfeld
6. Klicken Sie auf Tabs at bottom-left
7. In the Tab stop position Feld, select all listed positions and click Clear All

Step 4: Adjust Ruler Markers for Precise Indentation

The ruler provides visual control.

1. If ruler not visible, go to View > Ruler and check it
2. On the ruler at top, you see three markers:
   • Top triangle (First Line Indent): Indents only first line
   • Bottom triangle (Left Indent): Indents entire paragraph
   • Rectangle below (Left Indent marker): Might be combined with bottom triangle

Step 9: Reset All Indentation to Defaults

If Dokument has mixed, conflicting indentation:

1. Wählen Sie all (Ctrl+A)
2. Gehen Sie zu Home > Clear All Formatting (or Ctrl+M)
3. Now select text again
4. Apply indentation fresh via Paragraph Dialogfeld or Indent Schaltfläches
5. This clears all direct formatting including conflicting indents
