- Quit Word completely
- Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)

Step 1: Verify You’re Actually in Safe Mode
Confirm Safe Mode is active.
Windows:

- A dialog shows all COM add-ins
- Uncheck all boxes to disable every add-in
- Cliquez OK
- Cliquez OK again
- Close Word without saving preferences
- Reopen Word in Safe Mode
Step 4: Rebuild the Registry (Windows Only)
Corrupted registry entries prevent Safe Mode loading.
- Close Word
- Press Windows Key + R
- Type:
regeditand press Enter - Navigate to:
