The 问题

The 参考文献 button in Word is grayed out or inactive. You try to insert a 参考文献, but nothing appears. The 参考文献 exists but shows as empty (no sources listed). You’ve created citations but the 参考文献 won’t generate. The 参考文献 field shows an 错误 or just a placeholder.

Quick 修复

Add citations first, then insert 参考文献:

  1. Position cursor in your 文档 where you want a 引用
  2. Go to References tab in ribbon
  3. Click Insert 引用 (or Insert 尾注/脚注 depending on method)
  4. Create or select a source:
    • Click Insert 引用 > Add New Source
    • Enter source details (Author, Title, publication info)
    • Click OK
  5. The 引用 出现在 your 文档
  6. Repeat for each source you want to cite (add at least 1)
  7. Once you have citations, go to References > 参考文献
  8. Select a 样式 (e.g., APA, Chicago, MLA)
  9. A 参考文献 appears listing all your sources

步骤 1: 验证 参考文献 Button is Active

检查 if 参考文献 功能 is enabled.

  1. Go to References tab in ribbon
  2. Look for 参考文献 button (usually shows list/books icon)
  3. If grayed out, the button is inactive (means no citations exist)
  4. To activate, you must add at least one 引用 first (步骤 2)
  5. If button is active (not grayed), proceed to 步骤 3

步骤 2: Add Citations if You Haven’t Already

参考文献 requires sources.

  1. Position cursor where you want first 引用
  2. Go to References > Insert 引用
  3. A dropdown appears

Generate 参考文献 from citations.

  1. Position cursor where 参考文献 should go (usually end of 文档)
  2. Go to References > 参考文献
  3. Click the dropdown arrow
  4. A list of 参考文献 styles appears:
    • APA
    • Chicago Manual of 样式
    • IEEE
    • MLA
    • Custom styles
  5. Click your desired 样式
  6. 参考文献 is inserted showing all cited sources
  7. All sources you cited appear in the 参考文献 automatically

参考文献 only includes saved sources.

  1. Go to References > Manage Sources (or Manage Database)
  2. A Source Manager dialog opens
  3. On left side, you see “Master List” (all available sources)

  5. Look in Current List—this is what shows in 参考文献
  6. If Current List is empty:
    • In Master List, find your source
    • Click it to select
    • Click Copy button (middle area)
    • Source moves to Current List
  7. Click OK
  8. Now insert 参考文献 again
  9. Your source should appear

步骤 5: Ensure 参考文献 样式 is Correct

Wrong 样式 might make 参考文献 appear empty or incorrect.

  1. Locate your existing 参考文献 in the 文档
  2. Right-click the 参考文献
  3. Select 参考文献 Properties or Edit 参考文献
  4. 验证 the 样式 listed matches your preference
  5. To change 样式:
    • Delete existing 参考文献 (right-click > Delete)
    • Go to References > 参考文献
    • Select different 样式
    • Reinsert
  6. Now 参考文献 uses correct 样式

参考文献 is actually a field; field code might be corrupted.

  1. Right-click the 参考文献
  2. Select Edit Field or Field Code

  1. Click anywhere in the 参考文献
  2. Right-click it
  3. Select 更新 Field or press Ctrl+Shift+F9

Citations entered as placeholders might not generate 参考文献 entries.

  1. Go to References > Manage Sources
  2. Look for any sources marked as “[Placeholder]” or incomplete
  3. Select placeholder source
  4. Click Edit button
  5. Complete all required fields (Author, Title, etc.)
  6. Click OK to 保存
  7. Delete and reinsert 参考文献
  8. Placeholder source should now appear

If all else fails:

  1. Locate your 参考文献 in 文档
  2. Right-click it
  3. Select Delete
  4. 参考文献 field is removed
  5. Manually 验证 you have citations (References > Manage Sources should show current sources)
  6. Position cursor where 参考文献 should be
  7. Go to References > 参考文献
  8. Select 样式
  9. 参考文献 recreates
  10. All cited sources should now appear

步骤 10: 禁用 参考文献 Field Code View

Sometimes 参考文献 displays as code instead of formatted list.

  1. Right-click the 参考文献
  2. If you see field code like {BIBLIOGRAPHY ...} instead of formatted list
  3. Hold Alt and press F9 to toggle field code view
  4. Or right-click > Toggle Field Codes
  5. 参考文献 now displays as formatted list

Why This Happens

  1. No citations added — 参考文献 requires at least one 引用
  2. Sources not in Current List — Sources exist in Master List but not added to current 文档
  3. 参考文献 placeholder — 参考文献 inserted as placeholder without 样式 selected
  4. Field code corrupted — 参考文献 field syntax broken
  5. 样式 not selected — 参考文献 exists but has no formatting 样式
  6. Refresh needed — 参考文献 not updated after adding new citations
  7. Custom sources not saved — Sources created but not properly saved to database
  8. 参考文献 deleted — Field was removed during editing
